winter olympics 2010

The 2010 Olympics have come to a close. I didn't get to enjoy as much of it as I wanted, especially the free skate of the womens figure skating, and I am sad it is done and over :[

I was also disappointed in how little time during the day the Olympics were televised. Why can't we all just put aside our stupid TV shows for 2 weeks and celebrate the coming together of the worlds athletes with 24/7 televised Olympics. I am not saying it has to be all the time on the big time channels, but at least have it going on 1 cable channel or something all day long. Boo.

I wonder how other countries handle the televising of the Olympics.

Alas. Here are some pictures with some of my highlights from these winter Olympics.

The US took home a record breaking number of medals: 37 total, 9 gold, 15 silver, 13 bronze.

Tony and I enjoyed getting into curling. A favorite curling athlete of mine was the young member of Great Britian's team- Eve Muirhead. She is just 19 in a sport dominated by women in their late 20s and even early 30s.

Apolo Ohno is possibly my favorite athlete ever. Plus he is rather hunky :] even tony said he was a good looking guy :] I am sad he didn't take home any golds :[

Shaun White. he just kicks snowboarding butt. there is nothing else to say about that.
Tony in particular was excited about Shaun's performance and the fact that he blew away all the competition in just his first run.

Rachael Flatt our own figure skater from COLORADO SPRINGS, CO!!!! She performed her personal best at the olympics, and I hope to see her medal in 2014!!!!!!!!!

the US Nordic Combined team. For the first time in 62 years the US has proved it is a powerhouse in many sports, now including the nordic combined, where an athlete came out of retirement to win us GOLD!

Yu-Na Kim from S. Korea. Seriously amazing figure skating. BLEW the competition away, she was so good that it was VERY hard to be mad at her for winning and bumping the US out of medal position. It was a joy to watch her skate. This is from the end of her short program- which was skated to a James Bond theme medley. oh yea.
